STEEL™ Steel Wire
STEEL™ steel wire is crafted from drawn steel with diameters ranging from 1.60 to 4.00 mm, designed to support irrigation wires, plants, and branches. It is also used to connect pile upper edges for hail net coverings.
Material Composition
The wire is made from high carbon-content steel (over 0.6%), coated with a zinc and aluminum alloy. This high carbon content ensures excellent resistance, maintaining the wire's mechanical and physical characteristics throughout the system's life.
Performance and Maintenance
Low Elongation Rate: Reduces the need for frequent tensioning maintenance. When needed, tensioning is simple with wire-tensioning accessories.
Compliance: Meets the UNI EN 50189: 2000 standard for flexibility. The wire, when twisted twelve to eighteen times around its diameter, must not show any fractures.
-Diameter Efficiency: High resistance allows for using diameters 30% smaller than traditional galvanized wires, leading to material and cost savings. STRUKTURASTEEL™ wire, with the same diameter, offers nearly double the resistance compared to classical galvanized wire.
Tensile Strength and Coating
-High Tensile Strength: Minimum tensile strength of 1270 N/mm², significantly higher than the 450 N/mm² of traditional galvanized wire.
- Durable Coating: Coated with 95% zinc and 5% aluminum, providing excellent corrosion resistance. The wire meets UNI EN 10244-2: 2003 standards for coating quality. When twisted around a cylinder with a diameter four times larger than the wire, the coating must not crack.
Corrosion Resistance
- Double Protection: The zinc and aluminum coating offers dual protection:
- Forms a barrier against general corrosion.
- Creates a galvanic cell that "self-heals" when exposed to humidity, protecting bare steel near grooves and cut edges.
- Long Service Life: The coating ensures the wire’s service life matches that of the system.
Quality Assurance
The product is supplied with pre-set minimum resistance values to guarantee the minimum material resistance and system stability, even accounting for natural material tolerance. The coating is applied per the UNI EN 10244-2 standard with class A (maximum) galvanizing.
